Foreign Language Education

At AREL Science High School, foreign language education is regarded as an integral part of scientific and academic achievement. The main aim of the foreign language program is to raise students who can communicate effectively in different languages and express themselves clearly and fluently. Course content and materials are regularly updated according to students’ needs and are designed to support active learning. Individual, pair, and group work, presentations, and project-based activities increase student participation, while reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills are developed in a balanced way.
We believe that culture is an important part of language learning. Students read books written for native English speakers as well as award-winning works from different cultures. In this way, they improve both their language skills and cultural awareness. Students express their ideas effectively in both written and spoken forms and actively use English while doing research and accessing information. Language education is provided by both Turkish and native speakers teachers.
Each year, selected student delegates from our school take part in Model United Nations (MUN) conferences, which are international simulations where countries and United Nations organizations are represented. Students discuss global issues, express their opinions in English in panels and workshops, develop solutions, and prepare reports.
Students who graduate from AREL College reach a level of English that allows them to skip the preparatory classes of universities that teach in English. In Grades 11 and 12, foreign language education is supported with TOEFL and IELTS preparation. Students graduate at B2/C1 level according to the Common European Framework.
Our school is also an official Cambridge Exam Centre and SAT Exam Centre. This allows students to take internationally recognized exams at their own school and gain a strong academic background for studying abroad.
Second Foreign Language
At AREL College, German or Spanish is taught as a second foreign language. This education starts in Grade 3 of primary school and continues without interruption throughout high school. The aim of the program is to help students succeed in internationally recognized exams such as DELE 1–2 for Spanish and FIT 1–2 for German. By the end of high school, students reach B2 level according to the European Language Portfolio and are able to use their second foreign language effectively.
AREL Anatolian High School aims to raise students who are ready for the global world, multilingual, and able to communicate across cultures through its strong foreign language education.
